Today, we’re announcing the launch of CloudM Continuity — a new business continuity product that bridges Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace to give your organisation a live, ready-to-use standby environment for when outages strike.
The problem: outage fatigue is costing enterprises millions
The reality of cloud dependency has become impossible to ignore. In 2025 alone, there were 16 major global Microsoft 365 incidents, totalling 94 hours of cumulative downtime and affecting approximately 850 million users worldwide. The January 2026 outage — which took down Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and security tools for over nine hours — was a stark reminder that even the world’s most sophisticated cloud infrastructure isn’t immune to failure.
For most organisations, these outages aren’t just an inconvenience. They’re a financial crisis. Industry data shows that 98% of enterprises report a single hour of downtime costing over $100,000, with some sectors facing losses of several million dollars per event. And with the introduction of the EU’s Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) and the NIS2 Directive, the stakes have risen further. DORA now mandates that financial entities must restore critical functions within two hours — a standard that traditional backup solutions, with recovery times of 24 to 48 hours, simply cannot meet.
The gap between “your data is backed up” and “your people can keep working” is where the real damage happens. We built CloudM Continuity to close it.
How CloudM Continuity works
CloudM Continuity isn’t a backup tool. It’s an active resilience layer that keeps a synchronised standby environment in Google Workspace, ready for your team to use at a moment’s notice. It operates on a continuous three-stage cycle we call the Resilience Loop:
Sync. Your Microsoft 365 environment — including mail, calendar, contacts, documents, and Teams chat — is continuously mirrored to Google Workspace. You choose a sync frequency (weekly, daily, or hourly) to match your operational requirements and risk appetite.
Failover. When M365 services go down, there are no complex recovery scripts or manual restores. Your users simply log into Google Workspace, where their data is already waiting. Mail read states, folder structures, and label hierarchies are all preserved, so the transition feels seamless.
Recover. When Microsoft is back online, our Reverse Recovery Mechanism identifies every email sent and every document created in Google during the outage and automatically merges it back into M365. There’s no manual reconciliation and no data left behind.
The entire user lifecycle is automated too. Accounts are provisioned and licensed in Google Workspace based on your policies, so there’s nothing to set up when an outage hits.
The benefits
Eliminate downtime. Move from days of recovery time to minutes of failover. Your team stays productive while others are waiting for services to come back online.
Meet regulatory requirements. The Premium tier’s hourly sync is purpose-built for DORA’s two-hour restoration mandate. Real-time audit logging, failover drill support, and continuous sync evidence help you demonstrate compliance at your next audit.
Reduce single-vendor risk. By maintaining a live standby in Google Workspace, you decouple your operations from a single point of failure — a strategic priority increasingly recommended by bodies like CISA and the Cyber Safety Review Board.
Protect your bottom line. At $9,000+ per minute of enterprise downtime, CloudM Continuity pays for itself in minutes. It’s business continuity insurance that delivers immediate, measurable ROI.
Stay in control. You own and manage all source and destination connections. Real-time reporting gives you full visibility over sync status and system health, with built-in filtering for easy auditing and troubleshooting.
Pricing and availability
CloudM Continuity is available in three tiers, each offering full module support with the primary difference being sync frequency:
- Basic: Entry-level protection for non-critical environments.
- Standard: Balanced continuity for standard business needs.
- Premium: The “Hot Standby” model, designed for DORA compliance and mission-critical operations.
The service can be tailored to your needs by selecting which data sources you wish to secure and restore.
CloudM Continuity is available exclusively through our certified partner network. If you’re an end customer, contact us and we’ll connect you with a partner in your region. If you’re a Google Cloud Partner or MSP looking to add a powerful new offering to your portfolio, we’d love to talk — get in touch to learn more about our partner programme.
